The exhibition “Epic Imaginary of Ilija Bosilj” explores how medieval Serbian frescoes from the Nemanjić period served as a source of inspiration for the artist. Far from being mere decoration on monastery walls, these frescoes stand as visual testimonies of rulers, saints, and key historical events. Ilija Bosilj reinterpreted this heritage through his own visionary artistic language, transforming the epic narratives and spiritual symbolism of medieval art into a unique visual universe. In his work, the imagery of the past is translated into a timeless, almost futuristic expression, as if the medieval epic tradition were seen through the lens of the 20th century.
